In our efforts to be transparent after the PROSA debacle and Fadiel Adams’s resignation, we have decided to publicly share our emergency meeting held on 5 December.
Below is a brief summary and the voice recordings of the meeting from Wendy Williams, Secretary of the Board.
Crisis Meeting held Wednesday 5 December 2018 at Jubilee House Retreat Road Retreat.
The meeting commenced at 20H05, facilitated by Isaac de Jongh and Aubrey Robinson, with Rozina Johnson as minute taker.
Present at the meeting were NEC and PEC members as well as one member of the Metro.
Upon arrival, the atmosphere was hostile. Isaac explained that no foul language would be tolerated. Anyone using foul language would have to leave the building. He made it clear we were not there to discuss NPO issues, but only the Party issue.
The issue at hand was to attempt reconciliation of the NEC. Paul said that we had no interest in PROSA, as we all joined GATVOL, and not PROSA.
Mark said he understood this to be a mediation meeting and that we needed to understand what the agenda was, because it was said that people would be fired tonight. This meant that people came to the meeting with the intention to break down and not for unity. The question arose who were allowed to have a voice in the meeting. Fadiel said that Desmond wasn’t in the meetings for a long time, and Wendy said no Desmond had in fact attended recent meetings. The question was about Oscar who had not attended meetings for a few months. Fadiel and Oscar explained that there is a WhatsApp record that Oscar had stated that due to work constraints he would not be able to attend meetings. However, it was brought to the attention of the house that meetings had been held on Sundays for a while now. Oscar said he wants to make it clear that people were lying about his nonattendance of meetings.
Agenda point number 1 was THE RESIGNATION OF FADIEL ADAMS.
Fadiel argued that his resignation was not valid as it was via WhatsApp. It was further argued that since Oscar’s apology was valid via WhatsApp, that Fadiel’s resignation was seen in the same light as binding. Two proposals were brought forward: One was – Do we vote and ratify the resignation; and TWO – Do we all rescind our positions and have a fresh election. Pastor Paul made it blazingly clear that the resignation was admissible and would be acceptable. He did however propose that the entire EXCO step down. Mark reminded the house that an election couldn’t take place right then.
The question of the removal of Facebook admins was addressed, and Mark apologized for his actions. Fadiel questioned why his business was put on Facebook; and in the same light Kenny wanted to know why Fadiel was saying he was chasing young girls. The facilitator said that apologies were called for; and Fadiel said he apologizes, even if he is right.
At one point the meeting was so out of order that the facilitator asked whether people were drugged or what. At another time, Randy moved across the room, right in front of Nicky in an intimidating manner, which was uncalled for.
In the light of Randy and Fadiel making the rest of the EXCO liars, a win win situation could not be reached, as their bullying tactics were at play. At 21H10, the meeting was out of order, with Randy and Fadiel intimidating people and insisting on telling lies; yet calling other people liars.
At this point, Mark stood up to leave because it was clear that the meeting was being disrespected and that no amicable solution would be reached at this point. Wendy, Kenny, Junaid and Nicky then also walked out, as it was clear that not everyone present was there in the interest of reconciliation.
Mark and Junaid indicated that they were willing to rescind their positions, but would remain members of the party.
The final outcome of the meeting is not known to me at this time, and I await minutes thereof.
